In the Old Testament, we find a very special story.
Balaam was hired to CURSE ISRAEL.
The fascinating story of Balak and Balaam’s failed attempts to curse the Jewish people is found in Numbers 22-24. The Bible records how, after being thoroughly humiliated by his talking donkey, Balaam, the non-Jewish sorcerer and prophet commissioned by Balak King of Moab to curse the Jews, found himself incapable of cursing them. Instead, he bestowed on the Jews four tremendous blessings. Balak asks Balaam three times to curse Israel. Instead of cursing Balaam blessed Israel four times. Every time he tries to curse Israel, instead of cursing, he blesses them and blesses them and blesses even more. This clearly is a picture of what God has blessed, no one can curse.
Numbers 23
5 The Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said, “Go back to Balak and give him this word.”
6 So he went back to him and found him standing beside his offering, with all the Moabite officials. 7 Then Balaam spoke his message:
“Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains. ‘Come,’ he said, ‘curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.’ 8 How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the Lord has not denounced? 9 From the rocky peaks I see them, from the heights I view them. I see a people who live apart and do not consider themselves one of the nations. 10 Who can count the dust of Jacob or number even a fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and may my final end be like theirs!”
11 Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!”
This is a picture of what God has blessed, which no one can curse.
This is a picture of you and me as Believers in Jesus Christ.
If Balaam could not curse Israel under the Old Covenant, how much more you and I under the New Covenant? We are truly blessed.
Eph 1:3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ. For he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love before him.
In the New Testament.
Breaking curses on believers was not part of the New Testament church's practice, no evidence for this can be found. Paul says:
Colossians 2:8
21st Century King James Version
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, following the tradition of men according to the rudiments of the world, and not in accordance with Christ.
BE CAREFUL OF MAN'S DOCTRINE.
HOSEA 4:6 My people perish because of a lack of knowledge.
Over the years the doctrine of “breaking of curses on believers’ has become very famous and has become one of the top sellers worldwide. One thing I have learned over the years is to always check your Bible.
DON'T YAY AND AMEN TO EVERYTHING YOU HEAR OVER THE PULPIT! COMPARE IT WITH SCRIPTURE, DON'T VALUE MAN'S OPINION ABOVE GOD'S WORD.
You should ask yourself this question:
Why did Jesus never break curses on people? From the book of Matthew to the book of John there is not a single example of Jesus or the disciples ministering to someone breaking 'curses'
You would think that at least with the man of Gadara with over 6000 demons Jesus would use the example of breaking off curses but Jesus did not.
Why did Jesus not teach His disciples to break curses?
Jesus never taught His disciples to break off curses of pre-born-again people or people who got born-again. Not one example.
Why did Paul not break curses? No example from the Book of Acts. No example from the Apostles or Disciple.
You would think if it was so important to practice in ministry then Paul would have dedicated a chapter or left some clue on 'breaking off curses' but Paul did not.
It is a man-made doctrine.
Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men's ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah).
Those who preach the breaking of curses never prove their doctrine with scripture
The ONLY THING is …
It has ALREADY BEEN BROKEN THROUGH the DEATH of Jesus At the CROSS ...
when HE WAS MADE a CURSE for us…
What we REALLY HAVE is ... GENERATIONAL UNAWARENESS, IGNORANCES ...
why are we ALWAYS TRYING TO BE FREE from SOMETHING we HAVE ALREADY been FREED FROM...and ARE ALREADY FREE FROM
The ISSUE is NOT TO BE FREE FROM, BUT to KNOW and BELIEVE that we ALREADY ARE ...
IT IS FINISHED AND IT IS DONE ...
There are only TWO CURSES a BELIEVER can come under according to scripture:
1. For not keeping the whole law (613 commandments) which we are not under.
2. For preaching a gospel that does not line up with Paul's Gospel, the Gospel of Grace
Galatians 3:13 Yet, Christ paid the full price to set us free from the curse of the law. He absorbed the curse completely as he became a curse in our place. TPT
If Jesus took the curse of the Law for you, how on earth is it possible to be cursed? HIGHLY IMPOSSIBLE
HIGHLY FAVORED AND BLESSED
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law!
What is the curse of the law? The only way to find out is to go back to the law. The expression "the law" as found in the New Testament usually refers to the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible. As we go back to these books—or the law—we find that the curse, or punishment, for breaking God's law is threefold: poverty, sickness, and spiritual death.
Please take note:
Christians are not under any of the 613 Jewish Laws today because of Jesus's death. This means that we should not be under the curse of the Law.
If you don’t believe me go to this link and read the article below:
If you believe that Christians can have curses, it will be because the Bible says: Let it Be Done for You According to Your Faith – Matthew 9:27-31.
So renew your mind and get rid of wrong beliefs that lead to wrong living.
A few points:
Biblical facts about breaking curses:
1. There is not a single example anywhere in the Bible of someone
breaking or attempting to break a curse.
2. The Bible does not contain a phrase or an idea such as "breaking
a curse" that would indicate that curses can be or should be broken.
3. Christ does not teach His disciples a need to break curses in the
Gospels. Christ simply ministers healing and casts out demons without any preparation such as "breaking curses."
4. The 12 apostles, the apostle Paul, or any other New Testament
writer does not teach the need to break curses. Everyone simply
ministers healing and deliverance without breaking curses.
5. The New Testament consistently teaches that believers are
blessed. It does not even hint that they are or can be successfully
cursed in any way.
6. When we survey every verse in the New Testament that uses a
form of the word "curse" not a single one even hints that Christians
can have a problem being cursed.
7. Galatians 3:13-14 is the one passage that connects Christ’s
sacrifice with curses. It says nothing about "breaking curses". It is
speaking about the curse in the Law of Moses. This curse was
spoken by God and Scripture cannot be broken. (John 10:35b) There is nothing in this passage or any other about breaking so-called curses that people might speak.
Do not let this false teaching undermine your faith in Christ. What
Christ has done is deeper than the deepest ocean and higher than
the highest mountain. It cannot be undone by the words of a wicked person.
God has never cursed His redeemed and blessed children with generational curses. There is no need to break curses because you are blessed and not cursed because of Christ. Don't do anything that Christ does not teach.
My conclusion to the subject is that it is man-made and was never introduced by the Church or even in the Old Covenant.
God Bless
