The Devil cannot steal kill and destroy from you
John 10:10
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
KJV
We all know this verse. We heard it thousands of times being preached and we believed what we heard without checking if it is correct.
Someone said: “Don’t Amen or believe everything you hear over the pulpit unless you can verify it in scripture”
Wrong Beliefs Creates Wrong Living.
For many years in the Church and up till recently I believed that the devil had the power and authority to kill, steal, and destroy because of this scripture and did not look at it in context up till recently.
My revelation set me free.
Contrary to popular opinion “the devil is not the thief in John 10:10”
The Bible must be interpreted by the Bible and not our opinion.
The Devil is defeated! Don’t give him power by your wrong beliefs.
Colossians 2:15 is one of the great verses of victory in the New Testament. “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” Our great captain has won the contest.
Properly understanding Colossians 2:15 can help us avoid this error by rightly affirming Christ’s victory over evil in and through His sacrificial death on the cross.
Who Are the Rulers and Authorities?
Colossians 2:15 states that Christ “disarmed the rulers and authorities.” To whom does this phrase refer? The combination of “rulers and authorities” appears elsewhere in Paul’s writings in reference to human authorities (Titus 3:1), but more often it applies to spiritual powers (Eph. 3:10; 6:12). When we compare Colossians with Ephesians (its parallel epistle), we see that “thrones, dominions, rulers, and authorities” are obviously spiritual entities, whether angels or demons (Eph. 1:21; 2:2; 3:10; 6:12).
Colossians 2:15 is one of the great verses of victory in the New Testament.
We can safely conclude that the enemies Christ triumphed over in Colossians 2:15 are the spiritual beings who were at war against him.
At The Cross
Satan was also defeated by Jesus at the cross. Shortly before His death, Jesus said:
the ruler of this world has been judged (John 16:11).
Resurrection
Not only did Jesus give His life for the sins of the world, but He also rose from the dead-breaking Satan’s power over fallen humanity.
Since, therefore, the children share flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared the same things, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil (Hebrews 2:14).
The defeat of Satan, by the Lord Jesus Christ, is complete. Jesus has defeated Satan through death, and resurrection.
Who is the “THIEF” in John 10:10?
Well, let us look at the context
John 10:6-10
6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.
Jesus the Good Shepherd 7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
NKJV
Let us Look at verse 8: All who came before Me are thieves and robbers.
Who came before Jesus in the context of teachers? The Sadducees and the Pharisees, not the devil.
Again, verse 8 but the sheep did not hear them! (Them, not singular but plural referring to people in the context)
Who do the sheep listen to on Sundays or the Sabbath as to in those days? The Sadducees and Pharisees, or Teachers or Pastors in today.
So by looking at these verses we have established that the devil is not in the context but teachers of God’s word is. So if the devil is not in the context then to say that he can steal kill and destroy is not Biblical but also a wrong belief since Jesus defeated him by His death on the Cross,
Apostle Paul confirms this in Galatians 1 and says anyone who preaches another Gospel (Grace) a double curse will rest on him, this is the thieves, the Pastors or Preachers who do not preach the New Covenant of Grace! Don’t let these thieves steal from you
Galatians 1:6-9
The Passion Translation
One Gospel
6 I am shocked over how quickly you have strayed away from the One who called you in the grace of Christ. I’m astounded that you now embrace a distorted[a] gospel! 7 That is a fake “gospel” that is simply not true. There is only one gospel—the good news of Christ! Yet you have allowed those who mingle law with grace to confuse you.
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel different than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
9 Let me make it clear: Anyone, no matter who they are, that brings you a different gospel than the gospel that you have received, let them be condemned and cursed!
So I come to my conclusion: Let me just clarify, the devil is still active and deceiving people but the devil cannot steal kill and destroy from you unless you
co-operate with him.
Let’s believe right then we shall live right.
